Shakoya Hicks is a Licensed Professional Counselor who uses a realistic approach to help individuals reduce anxiety, increase peace, and build the skills needed to make critical decisions during life transitions without feeling overwhelmed and stressed. Shakoya’s realistic approach will help you solve problems and begin working toward a better future with a focus on the present, not the past. Shakoya will help you identify what you want and how your current behavior is taking you farther from your goals or bringing you closer to your goals.

 

Shakoya is approved by the Virginia Board of Counseling to offer individual and group supervision for those working towards licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor. Shakoya has a passion for providing supervision to pre-licensed individuals helping them advance their clinical knowledge, strengthen their clinical skills, and enhance professional growth. Shakoya’s goal as a Clinical Supervisor is to assist you in providing the highest level of care to your clients, learn how to maintain a work-life balance, clarify your career goals, and prioritize self-care.

 

Shakoya received her Master’s degree in Community-Clinical Psychology from Norfolk State University and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Livingstone College. Shakoya is licensed in Virginia as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and she is licensed in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC). Shakoya has been providing therapy to families, couples, and individuals of all ages and diagnoses for over 16 years. Shakoya has been providing clinical supervision to pre-licensed individuals for over 10 years. Shakoya’s experience ranges from inpatient mental health facilities to community based programs to outpatient therapy. Shakoya is looking forward to working with you on your journey toward a new beginning.
